1. Readery Reserve Instructions & Terms

✨ The Readery Reserve allows you to curate your own collection of books and pay it off over 90 days. Here’s how it works:

Minimum reserve of 2 or more books are required

Kindly note The Readery is still a freshly launched small business in its early stages. Because of this we’re limiting this option to a predetermined amount of customers for now.

As reserves are completed and paid off, slots will open for new customers.

If this option proves popular and financially viable, we will expand availability to more readers in the future.

Step 1 – Build Your Cart

• Add Readery Reserve to your cart
• Browse our shop and add the books you want to your cart
• Complete checkout process to get your order number
• This order number is not a payment yet — it’s just to reserve your place
• If all slots for the Readery Reserve have been taken, you will be notified.

Step 2 – Confirm Your Reserve

• Once you’ve checked out, we will reach out via WhatsApp or email within 12 hours to:
• Confirm your book selection
• Ask for any additional specific book requests you may have
• We will then update your invoice according to your confirmed reserve.

Step 3 – Deposit

• A 30% deposit of your total collection is required to start your Readery Reserve collection
• High-value pre-orders (R650+): For unreleased pre-order books valued over R650, a 50% deposit is required due to upfront import and shipping costs
• Deposits are non-refundable, but count toward your stack or store credit
• Imported book pricing is dependent on the  exchange rate. Prices may change at any time to accommodate fluctuations in the exchange or import rates.

• Pay monthly, weekly, bi-weekly, whichever you prefer, as long as payments stay active during the 90 days and full payment is made by the 90-day checkpoint.

• Add to your reserve anytime during the 90-day period. Your invoice will be kept up to date.

• Your books are reserved for you while payments are active.

Receive Your Reserve Collection 

• Once your collection is fully paid, we’ll carefully pack your books and ship them to your door.

• While we package orders carefully, The Readery cannot be held liable for any damage that occurs during shipping due to courier negligence. However, we will try to assist where we can.

• Shipping is calculated at the end, so you only pay for delivery once your collection is complete.

Important Terms

• Non-Payment: If full payment is not received by the 90-day checkpoint, your reserve will be released back into store inventory , and any payments made will be converted into store credit usable for future purchases.

• Deposit: Minimum 30% of total amount, (excluding unreleased pre-order titles valued R650+). The deposit is non-refundable but counts towards your reserve and store credit.

• Inventory: Pre-order books are only ordered once the deposit is received. Availability may occasionally vary. Books/requested titles that aren’t in our inventory may take 2-6 weeks to arrive depending on the supplier.

Shelf Wear: The Readery takes every precaution to minimize shelf wear. However, books may occasionally show minor marks, slight shelf wear, or gentle yellowing of pages while awaiting shipment, this is a normal occurrence, and refunds will not be given for such conditions.

• Cancellation: You can choose to cancel your reserve order at anytime, however any payments made will be converted into store credit for future purchases.

Use of the Readery Reserve is at your own risk. The Readery cannot be held liable for any damage, loss, or delays caused by:

Unforeseen events or force majeure (natural disasters, strikes, courier delays, etc.)

Storage-related issues including flood, fire, water damage, or other incidents affecting the books while in storage.

By proceeding with this order the customer accepts and understands the above mentioned terms and conditions. These terms are fully disclosed prior to purchase, in line with South African consumer protection regulations for custom orders.
